  3. HELP FILE:
  4. ----------
  5. Make sure to use the new "PopMan.HLP" help file, which has been 
  6. updated to include all new features & changes to the program.  This
  7. help file replaces the beta tester information from previous beta
  8. packages (i.e. the help file is the only location for information
  9. regarding changes since the last beta release).  The new help file
  10. is dated June 2, 1995.

  14. an icon-drawing contest in which the winner receives a free PopMan
  15. registration!

  18. Basic Information & Legal Considerations:
  19. -----------------------------------------

  21. This archive is a "beta" that may be distributed to the general public
  22. for testing & evaluation purposes.  This beta has an expiry
  23. date, which can be displayed by choosing "Help -- About..." from the popup menu.
  24. Information such as licensing agreement, disclaimer, etc. applies as outlined
  25. in the accompanying documentation including the help file.  All new information
  26. is supplied in this file ("BETA.TXT"), and all efforts have been made to ensure
  27. that it is complete and accurate.  If you find any discrepancies, mistakes, or
  28. omissions in this documentation, or in the execution of the program itself, you
  29. are encouraged to inform the author of same (that is, after all, what beta
  30. testing is about).  See the bottom of this file for notes on how to contact the
  31. author.

  34. How to install PopMan 1.1 Beta:
  35. -------------------------------
  36. 1) Unzip the files "PopMan.exe" and "PopMan.hlp" into a
  37. subdirectory of your choice (you don't need to unzip
  38. the help file, "PopMan.hlp" if you don't want to, or if you
  39. already have it from version 1.0, but you may find it useful.
  40. You can remove it at any time).

  42. 2) Execute the file "PopMan.exe" in normal Windows fashion.
  43. A dialog asking you to select a launch method from the setup screen
  44. will appear, followed by the setup dialog.  Once you select a
  45. "launch method" and save your choice, in the future when PopMan runs, 
  46. nothing will appear on your screen (except if you choose the "icon"
  47. launch method) until you "trigger" its menu by employing your chosen
  48. launch method.

  50. 4) To configure PopMan & its menus the way you want it, choose
  51. "Configure...PopMan Setup" (for general options) and
  52. "Configure...PopMan Menus..." (to add/change items to the popup
  53. menus) from the PopMan menu.  You may, of course, repeat this
  54. step as often as you like, whenever you like!

  56. 5) Put PopMan in your "Startup" group if you want to have it run
  57. every time you launch Windows.  This is the suggested way to use
  58. PopMan, since it guarantees that it will be available at a mouse
  59. (or hotkey) click.

  61. HOW THE NEW FEATURES WORK:

  63. See the new help file, "PopMan.hlp", dated June 2/95, for all
  64. information regarding how the program works.  This help file is
  65. intended to include (& therefore replace) all previously updated
  66. information to beta testers on how the program works.
